James C. Koch 1939-2024

HUBBARD — James C. Koch, 84, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, March 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Yvonne Gerthung Koch.

He was a 1957 graduate of Hubbard High School.

He worked at Youngstown Microfilm and Camera for 42 years, retiring in 2002 as co-owner.

James was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of Youngstown Rotary Club and was of the Catholic faith.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, winters in Florida and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

James will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his wife, Janyce A. Johnson, whom he married June 23 1962; his children, James C. (Christine) Koch Jr. of Hermitage, Pa., Marlene (Edward) Dunkerley of Masury and Beth Ann (Joe) Sciarrone of Sharon, Pa.; and six grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Megan King, Karlee Williams, Lena Dunkerley, Emily (Kori) Maynard and Morgan Estes; and two great-grandchildren, Ronin King and Jonah Maynard.

He also leaves his brother, Joseph (Diane) Koch of Austintown.

His parents preceded him in death.

There will be a memorial service held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, with calling hours prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

James will be laid to rest in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
