Dorothy Zitello 1936-2024

AUSTINTOWN — Dorothy Ann Zitello, 87, of Austintown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at Humility House.

She was born May 21, 1936, in Niles to the late Michael and Eva Oleksiak Peltz. Dorothy was a 1954 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and went on to marry her husband, Frank Zitello, on July 28, 1956. They spent 55-plus years building a life together and raising two beautiful children until his passing on March 21, 2013.

Dorothy worked for Packard Electric for 20 years as a wire harnesser before retiring in 1974 to become a homemaker. Dorothy had many hobbies and interests, such as a love for bingo, trips to the casino, some of them unknown to her children but very known to her grandchild, Tommy, and loved jewelry because she “liked to sparkle.” Dorothy also had an immense love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending as much time with them as she could.

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children, Karen Ruby and Michael F. Zitello; a sister, Patty (George) Finelli; two grandchildren, Thomas and Kelli (Justin); and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Damien.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Mary Dikun and Delores Steinbeiser; and a brother, Steve Peltz; as well as a grandchild, James Michael Ruby.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at Lane Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 North Canfield-Niles Road, Mineral Ridge, OH 44440.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3504 S. Main St., Mineral Ridge, where a procession will follow to her final resting place, Resurrection Cemetery.
