Dolores J. Ifft 1930-2020

NILES — Dolores Jean “Tootsie” Ifft, 89, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020.

She was born Dec. 27, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of Daniel and Hazel Ingram Dominic.

Dolores was a 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School, where she was a majorette. She became a professional singer prior to getting married, but gave up that career in order to raise her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, active in the church choir, and a church festival volunteer.

Her husband, Joseph B. Ifft, whom she married Jan. 7, 1955, died Jan. 12, 2020.

She will be deeply missed by three sons, Daniel Ifft ( Jill) of Dover, Joseph Ifft (Robin) of Niles and Gary Ifft (Michelle) of Niles; a brother, Donald Dominic (Marlene) of Austintown; eight grandchildren, Amber, Daniel, Christian, Joey, Alyson, Nicholas, Aimee and Gary Matthew; eight great-grandchildren, Decker, Quinn, Zara, Macie, Brooklyn, Logan, Jaxson and Wyatt, and a ninth due in December. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, and her good friend Kay Lucariello of Niles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Ruth Ann Blakeman.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, where social distancing and facial coverings are mandatory.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
