YOUNGSTOWN — A woman reported feeling a gunshot to her upper leg while walking on Glenwood Avenue near Woodland Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The woman headed to her boyfriend’s house, where she called 911 at 5:34 p.m., according to a Youngstown police report.

The woman said she did not remember hearing any gunshots, so she wondered if she had been struck by a BB pellet.

When she was treated later at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, staff said they observed bullet fragments inside the entry wound on the back of her leg.

The woman said she had just gotten off a Western Reserve Transit Authority bus at Woodland and was walking north when she was shot in the back of her thigh.

She said a car did drive past her while she was walking.

Ambulance personnel treated the victim at the scene before taking her to the hospital.

The woman said she did not know of anyone who wanted to hurt her.
