YOUNGSTOWN — A woman reported being stabbed in her abdomen while setting traps for feral kittens near a wooded area on the East Side but does not know how she got the stab wound.

Officers were called to the ESA apartments in the area of 600 Kendis Circle at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday for a woman with a possible stab wound.

When officers located her near a car, she was applying pressure to a one-inch gash on the bottom left side of her stomach that appeared to be about a quarter-inch deep.

She said she was near the end of the fence line near a wooded area setting a trap for feral kittens. She did not hear or see anyone but “blacked out and didn’t remember what occurred,” a Youngstown police report states.

When she regained consciousness, she was standing against a vehicle with the stomach wound, she stated. Officers walked the area but did not locate any location where a struggle or stabbing might have occurred, the report states.

The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment.
