GIRARD — City police are investigating a stabbing outside Chesty’s Blue Collar Tavern on South State Street that sent a man to the hospital.

A police report states police were called to the bar early Friday for a fight that started inside the bar with two men verbally arguing and the fight continued outside where witnesses told police it became physical and a man was stabbed by another man

A shirtless man found on a sidewalk near an alleyway by the bar had multiple stab wounds on his back and arm, the police report states. Other people were giving the victim first aid. The victim told police the man who stabbed him drove away.

Liberty police found the vehicle and the person connected to the stabbing. A silver and red pocket knife with blood on the blade was recovered by police.

The victim’s identity and condition were not available.
