WHAT: Board of education meeting April 22

PRESENT: Nick Gallo, Kristina Merola, Donna Shields, Michael Morris and Jessica Krumpak

The board:

•Approved a policy for employing substitute bus drivers when Superintendent Gary Carkido deems it an emergency situation. The district can employ bus drivers from other Trumbull County school districts when needed with payment being whatever the other district pays their bus drivers.

•Announced graduation will be at 1 p.m. May 24 at the high school.

•Announced professional learning days for staff will be Oct. 21 and Feb. 24 for the 2026-27 school year. Students will not attend school those days.

•Approved a shingle roof maintenance plan contract with Boak and Sons Roofing that includes two inspections per year at Roosevelt Elementary School at $2,320. A shingle roof was installed last year.

•Adopted the 2026-2030 district strategic plan, which focuses on future projects in the district andways to have academic excellence with programs and services to inspire students.

•Approved an agreement with the Trumbull County Educational Service Center for special education services for fiscal year 2027 at $590,047.

•Approved Roosevelt Principal Eric Jones to help with after-school clubs at a rate of $25 per hour.
