WARREN — Trumbull County Senior Levy Administrator Diane Siskowic-Jurkovic is expected to be named the interim transit administrator in addition to maintaining her current duties.

Because of the increased duties, she will move up from earning $37.44 per hour for four days a week to $40.16 per hour for five days a week.

Siskowic-Jurkovic is becoming the interim administrator because Michael Salamone is retiring next month.

In the meantime, commissioners have not decided whether they will replace Salamone with someone in a similar position or change the scope of the program. Until that decision is made, Siskowic-Jurkovic will ensure the county stays up to date in filling out the paperwork needed to receive funding awards from state and federal agencies. In addition, she will monitor calls from people participating in existing programs.

As the Senior Levy Administrator, Siskowic-Jurkovic has worked closely with Salamone because the senior levy provides separate funding for transportation of Trumbull-area senior citizens.

“I am not here to create a new program,” she said. “I just want to see the program continue as it has been since 2018. I don’t want to lose sight of senior transportation.”

“What you, as commissioners, want to do for a count-wide system, is up to you to determine,” she continued. “This is for an interim basis. I will retire in November 2027.”

Commissioner Tony Bernard noted that with Siskowic-Jurkovic taking on the interim position, the county will save more than $120,000 a year in what is being paid to Salamone.

“She will apply for the grants,” he said.

If the commissioners hire a permanent transit administrator, Siskowic-Jurkovic’s salary will revert to the $37.44 per hour she now earns.

Marybeth Pumphrey, the administrative assistant at the Trumbull County Senior Levy, also will do double duties by becoming the administrative assistant with Trumbull Transit.

Because of the additional work, Pumphrey’s salary will increase from $19.32 per hour to $20.42 per hour.
