Poland Township upgrading security systems this year
POLAND TOWNSHIP — Michael Romeo from Tactical Solutions / PrimeNet addressed trustees at their January meeting regarding security. The company is upgrading the township systems to meet Ohio standards for government buildings.
“Our goal is to catch the township up on technology,” Romeo said. “(The township) is literally 14 years behind.”
He said one of the goals for 2026 is to get the township’s computers on what is called a “cohesive.” He said it would require a main server for a backup.
While Romeo and his company are working on the computers, they also will handle the installation of a new door security system at township hall. Trustees Eric Ungaro and Ed Kempers voted to approve the installation of a door remote locking system and upgrade to the security card access points throughout the building. The project cost is not to exceed $8,300.
New trustee Frank Demain abstained from voting as he was not a trustee when the matter came up last year.
As for future spending, Demain said seeking the best prices is important. He gave the example of the snow blade replacement cutting edges.
“I took two minutes and went online,” Demain said. “I was able to get it for $737 less, and it included free shipping.”
He told department heads to always check into different suppliers and get several quotes to ensure taxpayer money is being spent wisely. Approval was given to purchase the cutting edges from Quality Truck Body at a cost not to exceed $5,700.
