WHAT: Board of Education meeting Nov. 20

PRESENT: Fred Marcum, Kathy Mock, Harold Porter, Don Sherwood and Kim Smrek.

The board:

● Passed a resolution to declare transportation impractical for the identified students who were presented.

● Accepted the resignation of Melissa Swantner, medical assistant, and termination of Brian Zidian, substitute sweeper cleaner.

● Accepted the following resignations because of retirement: Robert Duda, teacher; Laurine Grischow, teacher; Karen MacIntyre, head custodian at Austintown Intermediate School; Margaret Sofranko, secretary at Fitch; Kathleen Schmidt, custodian turn leader at Austintown Intermediate School; and Gina Moorhead and Debra Infante.

● Hired the following into Ohio Association of Public School Employees positions: Bridgette Bobonick, paraprofessional assigned to Austintown Elementary School lunch and recess at $5.75 per hour; Jennifer Hernandez, food service at Fitch at $14.27 per hour; Kelly Moreno, food service kitchen manager at Austintown Middle School at $14.27 per hour; Alonda James, bus aide at $15.13 per hour; and Christopher Hoskinson, bus driver at $19.98 per hour.

● Granted the following athletic supplemental contracts: Joseph Paris, baseball head coach at $8,662.03; Frank Pugliese, baseball assistant coach at $4,513.32; John Drummond, baseball assistant coach at $4,137.21; Luke Kelty, baseball assistant coach at $1,883.05; Jenna Riccardo, girls basketball grade 7 at $3,766.10; Booker Newberry, varsity boys basketball assistant coach at $5,649.15; Jacob Capezzuto, girls basketball assistant varsity coach at $5,649.15; Ian Kotch, wrestling assistant at $3,012.88; and Devin Phillips, wrestling assistant blue at $3,012.88.

● Approved the appointment of non-teaching substitute Allyson King in the food service department.

● Approved the self-funded student trip of the Fitch softball team to the Cruiser Classic Tournament in Groveport.

● Approved the contractual agreement with ACCESS for internet application services:

● Approved the contractual agreement with Jostens to be the exclusive yearbook provider for Fitch High School from the school year 2026-2027 to school year 2028-2029.
