WHAT: Trumbull Career / Technical Center May board meeting

The board:

● Heard from Nathan Berry, career development coordinator, who presented local businesses the Ohio School Board Association Business Honor Roll Award for support and partnership of the center by providing real-world experiences for students. Recognized were Dearing Compression and Pump Co., Seraphina Safety Apparel, Shepherd of the Valley and Weld Action Company Inc.

● Heard from Paula Baco, TCTC director, the blended learning program is provided to students online and funds have been provided to assist students who live in remote areas of the county to have access to hot spots for Wi-Fi. She said blended learning has been used at the center for the past five years.

● Heard from Cody Holecko, treasurer, the roofing project at the center started in May. Work is also being done to finish the new addition to the building’s southeast side.

● Heard from Jason Gray, superintendent, the district has a partnership agreement with Ohio Partnership for Excellence in Paraprofessional Preparation to participate in grant-funded programs to support paraprofessionals and the teachers they work with. Gray said in the past four years, more paraprofessionals have been added to assist instructors in different programs that are at capacity levels.

● Hired Christopher Marsco as an intervention specialist, Dora Zandarski as adult education supervisor, Koula Glaros-Ross as adult education coordinator and Joseph Sekerak as electrical and industrial maintenance instructor for the adult education program.

● Approved Tammy Scott for shirt printing at $20 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours.

● Approved an agreement with Learn Well for educational services to students in short-term treatment facilities

● Entered into an agreement with Cadence Care Network to provide licensed and credentialed school social workers for students.

● Approved Skills US Nationals field trip for student Evelyn Lam to attend the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, in June. She also attended Skills US state officer training in May in Columbus.
