Rep. McNally seeks informational posters for Ohio veterans

State Rep. Lauren McNally, D-Youngstown, has again introduced bipartisan legislation to bring awareness of programs for veterans by requiring the state to create posters that employers can display about benefits.

“I truly believe that knowledge is power,” McNally said. “I want all people, but especially our veterans, to be set up for success and know about the resources available to them. We know that time after serving can be tough for some and knowing how to get help and what help is available can be life-changing.”

McNally first introduced the legislation May 9, 2024, with state Rep. Adam Holmes, R-Nashport. It was referred to the House Commerce and Labor Committee but received only a single hearing.

McNally reintroduced the bill Monday with state Rep. Brian Lampton, R-Beavercreek.

A companion bill in the state Senate was approved 32-0 on March 5.

The bill would require the state Department of Commerce and the state Department of Veterans Affairs to create the posters at no cost to employers who request them.

The posters would include information on programs provided by veterans services, veteran-focused assistance for substance abuse and mental health treatment programs, tax benefits and exemptions, legal services as well as education, workforce and training resources.

Starting at $3.23/week.
