Agencies in Valley receive housing funds

The Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corp. received $1 million in Welcome Home Ohio Program grants to be used for housing.

Half of the money will be used for the purchase of houses and the rest to rehabilitate five homes in the county.

Also, Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio, which includes Mahoning and Trumbull counties among its 22 counties, received $400,000 to purchase houses.

It also received an additional $600,000 for the rehabilitation or construction of nine others.

The funding is the latest round of Welcome Home Ohio Program funding. The state announced $26.9 million in grants Friday.

“Whether it’s supporting workforce needs, attracting new residents to Ohio, or helping longtime residents stay in the communities they love, housing matters,” Gov. Mike DeWine said.

“The projects we support through Welcome Home Ohio create safe and affordable housing options for families today, while building momentum for future generations to live their very best lives.”

The Welcome Home Ohio program is a statewide initiative created by the Ohio General Assembly and administered by the Ohio Department of Development. Its goal is to address the affordable housing shortage by helping land banks and developers purchase, rehabilitate, and build quality, owner-occupied homes for income-eligible Ohioans

Starting at $3.23/week.
