Man charged with felonious assault in shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — Sean O. Allen Sr., 54, was arraigned Monday afternoon on a charge of felonious assault in the Sunday night shooting of another man on Upland Avenue on the North Side.
Youngstown Municipal Court records indicate Allen’s charge is a first-degree felony, punishable by up to 11 years in prison if convicted. Bond was set at $25,000. He remained in the Mahoning County jail Monday afternoon. His next hearing is 9:15 a.m. Feb. 10, according to court records.
A Youngstown police report states that officers were called to an Upland Avenue address at 11:57 p.m. Sunday for a shooting and located the victim at a home. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital by ambulance.
“Another male was taken into custody at the scene,” according to the report. “A dog also had been shot at this location, and it was released to Animal Charity for evaluation and treatment,” the report added.
Youngstown Police Crime Lab personnel went to the scene to collect evidence, the report states.
