Man held on charges in attempt to break in at business vandalizing business
BOARDMAN — An Austintown man accused of attempting to break into a Boardman business is due in court today and is facing multiple charges, including felony counts of vandalism and drug possession
Michael Sundberg, 28, of Herons Boulevard, will make an initial appearance before Mahoning County Boardman Court Judge Joseph Houser on the felony charges and will be arraigned on misdemeanor counts of attempted breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sundberg was arrested around 5 a.m. Saturday after allegedly breaking the glass door at Audio Extreme and attempting to enter the business, according to a Boardman police report.
The police report states that officers responded after the broken glass triggered an alarm. The business manager told police that a surveillance camera showed a man standing in front of the door, wearing a San Francisco 49ers Jerry Rice jersey and a black Texas Longhorns hat. According to the report, the man fled when the alarm sounded and was driving a silver Kia SUV with a license plate likely ending with “175.”
The report states that another officer located a vehicle matching that description a short while later on Market Street at Stadium Drive and pulled it over. The driver matched the description the store manager gave police and the officer found the jersey rolled up in the back seat.
The report states that the officer asked him if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and Sundberg admitted that there was a pipe in the vehicle with methamphetamine residue. The officer also reported finding a black head covering, a tire iron, two black gloves and two knives in the vehicle.
The report states those items, along with the football jersey and hat, were taken as evidence.
Sundberg admitted to breaking the glass door, according to the report, and told police he was “just driving around and enraged at the world” because of personal problems he is facing. He said he decided to take out his frustration by breaking the glass.
