WHAT: Commissioners regular meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Mauro Cantalamessa, Niki Frenchko and Denny Malloy

Commissioners:

• Acknowledged the placement of “No Engine Brake” signage on Bell Wick Road, between state Route 304 and Mount Everett Road in Hubbard Township. Frenchko abstained from voting because she did not have supporting documentation.

• Approved special hauling permits to haul steel coils on county roads by Jaro Transportation and PI&I Motor Express.

• Granted special annual supplier fleet permits for vehicles to transport aggregate, concrete and construction goods to Trumbull County Logging Co. Inc. on Saturday, Don R. Green Trucking, LLC on Monday and Geauga Concrete Inc. on May 1.

• Granted a special hauling permit to move overweight equipment over county roads to Rich’s Towing & Service, April 17 to April 21.

• Granted right-of-way permits to Leon Yoder to work on Phalanx Mills Road; Kirila Contractors Inc. to work on Yankee Run Road; and Mas Tec Communications Group to bore in the right-of-way on three Newton Falls roads.

• Approved the Trumbull County engineer to purchase sodium chloride (rock salt) through the Ohio Department of Transportation for the 2024-2025 winter.

• Approved the lowering of the sanitary sewer costs paid by residents using the Little Squaw Creek Interceptor phases 2 through 4. The charges are decreasing from $3.84 per month to $2.55 per month. The original cost established in 2013 was $7.50 per user of the Little Squaw Creek pump station. However, because the number of customers grew from 67 to 131, the cost per customer had been dropping.

• Approved letters of support to the Western Reserve Port Authority for its applications to all Ohio Future Fund — Site Development Program. The port authority will be submitting applications for BDM Well Closing & Capping and for BDM Truck Access Road, both for the Kimberly Clark development and to the Youngstown Airport Site Readiness to attract new business and development.

• Entered into a contract with Baker, Bednar, Snyder & Associates to provide the engineering cost for the new coroner / morgue office at 176 Chestnut Ave. This was the location of the former Trumbull County Health Department.

• Agreed on a contract to allow CLR Utilities to replace 18 electric poles at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds for $40,820.

• Granted no-cost time extensions for four companies to connect sewer lines to low- to moderate-income houses as part of Trumbull County’s Heaton Chute Sanitary Sewer Household connection project.

• Approved the Trumbull County Planning Commission to seek a 2024 Community Housing Impact and Preservation Grant for $250,000.

• Accepted a $15,000 grant awarded through the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District.

• Approved the renewal of its contract with the County Risk Sharing Authority for general liability, property damage, law enforcement and automobile insurance. The total cost is $824,384.

• Appointed Robin Rowland to be a member of the Trumbull County Senior Services Advisory Council.

• Awarded Hartford Township $111,467 from the county’s American Rescue Plan funds to be used to improve its parks.
