The board:

Heard from Alejars that talks have been held to proceed with the Performing Arts Center, which will be located by the high school off Shannon Road. However, they will scale back on some aspects of the project due to costs. Officials said they want to work within a budget and previous costs for the project came in much higher than anticipated. The facility would include an auditorium and a new parking lot along with music classrooms, stage area, changing rooms, storage area and practice rooms. The building project will also incorporate the construction of the new board of education offices. Axiom Architects LLC of Youngstown is the project’s architect.

Reported the turf at the football stadium will be replaced this summer. Superintendent Bryan O’Hara said the current turf has aged and needs replaced.

Hired Judith Morrison and Desiree Moser as kindergarten teachers and Carli Anderson as high school language arts teacher for 2024-25 year.

Set graduation for 1 p.m. May 19 at the high school gymnasium.

Approved the sixth-grade class trip to Camp Fitch in November.

Approved the Success by Six program July 8 to 26 at Prospect Elementary School. Principal Debra Gratz will serve as administrator for the program at $30 per hour.

Approved summer program learning coordinators at $60 per hour for up to 16 hours May 1 to August 15. The program is offered for staff for summer training.
