YOUNGSTOWN — Educators from various diocesan Catholic Schools will be honored May 1 with the Diocese of Youngstown’s Office of Catholic Schools 2024 Golden Apple Award.

The 2024 awardees are:

•   Elizabeth “Betty” McCul-lough, principal at St. Nicholas School, Struthers.

•   Jacqulyn DiNardo, teacher at St. Nicholas School, Struthers.

•   Michael Klockner, teacher at John F. Kennedy Catholic School Upper Campus, Warren.

•   Shawn Mark, teacher at John F. Kennedy Catholic School Upper Campus, Warren.

Officials with the Office of Catholic Schools at the diocese said through the generosity of the Donahue Family Foundation of Pittsburgh, the Golden Apple Award honors outstanding teachers and one outstanding principal in the Diocese of Youngstown’s Catholic schools.

Officials said the diocese recognizes and deeply appreciates the unique contribution these educators make to the development of each student.

The selection, from a field of many educators, is a recognition of the commitment and witness of all the Catholic school teachers and administrators throughout the diocese.

Officials said the award consists of an unrestricted cash award of $5,000, a certificate, a Golden Apple paperweight, and a Golden Apple lapel pin, presented to the awardees at a dinner and ceremony May 1 at the Youngstown Country Club.

A selection process at the school and the diocesan levels was used to determine the winners.
