Boardman contractor pleads to 3 theft counts in Columbiana County

LISBON — A Boardman area contractor accused of taking money from three clients and failing to do the work in Columbiana County has changed his mind about withdrawing his guilty plea, instead pleading guilty to three counts of theft.

Sentencing for John P. Bartos, 41, Youngstown, is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 3 before Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam.

Bartos was accused of depriving Cara and Glenn Dilworth of $3,500 from June 29, 2022, to Jan. 11, 2023; depriving James and Lyndsey Walker of $2,500 from July 25, 2022, to Jan. 9, 2023; and depriving Kimberly Salmen of $2,500 from Feb. 22, 2022, to March 15, 2023.

In the motion for withdrawal of plea, Bartos’ attorney wrote the facts and circumstances surrounding the cases were based on business contracts between three former clients who hired the defendant’s business, Gridiron Windows and Doors, to install windows and doors at their homes.
