Youngstown’s Streetscape set for June 1

YOUNGSTOWN – Youngstown CityScape’s 27th annual Streetscape beautification effort is planned for June 1.

The downtown organization plans to kick off its fundraising efforts today for the annual planting day.

Volunteers are invited to help beautify the greater downtown area. More than 700 volunteers, including those from 15 neighborhood organizations, participated in last year’s event.

Projects will include trimming, planting flowers and shrubs, removing debris and mulching planted areas.

The focus areas include Central Square, West and East Federal streets, the John Young Memorial, Mahoning Commons, the B&O Station, the Choffin hillside, city hall, the Williamson staircase, Wick Park, Harrison Commons and Smoky Hollow.

Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up online at youngstowncityscape.org/streetscape.
