Woman charged with city shooting

Two others arrested on warrants following Logan Avenue gunfire

YOUNGSTOWN — Three women are listed as suspects in a 7:47 p.m. incident Thursday in the 2200 block of Logan Avenue on the lower North Side, in which gunshots were fired but no one was injured.

A Youngstown police report states that police charged a Farrell, Pa., woman, 22, with discharging a firearm into the home on Logan Avenue, but Youngstown Municipal Court did not have the charge listed as of Friday afternoon.

Police were called to Logan for gunfire and located a Chrysler 200 in the 100 block of Halleck Street, two blocks from the Logan address, with two women flagging down police.

They said they were chasing a gold car containing a woman who shot at them.

The women, both 22, one from Farrell, and the other from Oak Street, said the woman in the car, who is 43 and from Liberty, had driven the car into a wooded area behind some houses. Officers found that woman hiding behind a garage, and officers interviewed all three women separately.

The Farrell woman told police she was visiting a friend on Logan when she and the Liberty woman started to argue. The Liberty woman went into the house, and the Farrell woman said she heard gunshots from the house.

The Farrell woman then got into her car, went around the block and started to follow the Liberty woman, who was now in a car.

The Liberty woman told police she and the Farrell woman started to argue at the home on Logan, and the Liberty woman challenged the Farrell woman to a fight — and that the Farrell woman fled in her car.

But later, the Farrell woman returned to the home, and the Liberty woman heard gunshots coming from the vehicle. She added that someone picked her up in a car, and she ran when she heard sirens because she has warrants.

Police later found a spent shell casings in the back seat of the car and a handgun on the floor board. It appeared to have been left there by the driver, police said.

Police later determined that gunshot residue was on the hands of the Farrell woman, and she was taken to jail on discharging a firearm into a habitation. The two other women were taken into custody on warrants, one of them delivered to Liberty police on her warrant and the other delivered to Campbell police on her warrant.
