Holiday events set today in Mahoning, Trumbull

Communities in Mahoning and Trumbull counties have planned a variety of July 4 events today.

MAHONING COUNTY

¯ AUSTINTOWN — The July 4 parade kicks off at noon at Raccoon and Kirk roads and travels north to the Austintown library and Fitch High School. There will be a flag raising and ecumenical service at 8:30 a.m. at the Austin Log Cabin on Raccoon Road.

¯ CANFIELD — Firecracker Four-Mile Run will be 8 a.m. at Farmers National Bank with a children’s run at 8:15 followed by the adult run at 8:30 a.m. at Canfield Methodist Church

The 4th of July parade will begin at 10 a.m. from the fairgrounds along state Route 46 to the village green. Activities and performances are planned at the green.

¯ SEBRING — The Fourth of July celebration will feature fireworks at 10 p.m. at South Side Park. A free concert begins at 7 p.m.

¯ STRUTHERS — Struthers 4th of July Parade will begin at noon.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

¯ GUSTAVUS — The 4th of July Homecoming will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m. on state Route 193. Events at the township park after the parade include a Tot King and Queen contest, kiddie tractor pull, dunk tank and turtle races. A clown bubble show and cornhole tournament start at 11 a.m.

¯ HOWLAND — The township’s annual 4th of July event has the theme “This Land is Your Land” and will include a 5K Stars and Stripes Run and Walk at 8 a.m., a parade on East Market Street at 10 a.m. and entertainment, music and food at Richard Orwig Park. The parade is along East Market Street starting at Hunter’s Woods Plaza and ends at Howland High School.

¯ NEWTON FALLS — The 76th annual parade begins at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of God on West Broad Street. The festival begins after the parade and will take place at the park off Quarry Street. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. at the park. Events, including rides, games, entertainment and food, also will be at the park.

¯ NILES — There will be a fireworks display after the 7 p.m. Scrappers Game for the City of Niles Appreciation Night.

¯ WARREN — Packard Band Concert July 4 Spectacular will include a concert at 8 p.m. on the south lawn band shell. Fireworks by Zambelli will fly after concert.
