YOUNGSTOWN — A 25-year-old man is dead and three others injured in a shooting outside an East Midlothian Boulevard bar early Tuesday, police said.

This is the city’s 12th homicide this year.

Police have not provided the identities of the four people shot.

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday evening.

Lt. Mohammad Awad said, “No one has come forward to tell us about the shooter. We only know there was an argument just prior to the shooting.”

Police responded at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday to Vibez Restaurant and Event Center at 914 E. Midlothian Blvd., on the city’s South Side, for reports of gunfire and someone shot.

Police found a 25-year-old man who had been shot multiple times lying on the ground outside the business, according to a police report. The man was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As police began to gather evidence for the investigation, officers were informed that three other victims arrived at the hospital by private car.

One of the gunshot victims, a 26-year-old man, was listed in critical condition Tuesday night while the two others — a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman — were listed in stable condition Tuesday night.

The city police and the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office are investigating the shooting outside the bar and restaurant.

The last homicide victim in Youngstown before this was Walter Kornegay, 36, who was found June 25 shot to death on a playground at Crandall Park on the city’s North Side.

Youngstown recorded 30 homicides in 2021, the most since 39 were reported in 2007.
