Ex-police officer facing federal charges for impersonating marshal

BOARDMAN — A former Washingtonville police officer now will face a federal charge of impersonating a U.S. marshal.

A federal indictment alleges Logan Malik claimed to be a marshal gathering information about a hate group. Malik, 26, was arrested April 24 after police were called to the Holiday Inn and Sheetz gas station.

He had pleaded not guilty in Mahoning County Court to impersonating a peace officer, but that charge was dropped in light of the federal indictment.

Malik is no longer employed by Washingtonville police.

Starting at $3.85/week.
