Youngstown man pleads guilty to assault

YOUNGSTOWN — A Youngstown man was sentenced to five years of probation in connection to the beating of another man at an alternative sentencing facility in June.

Jacob Mechling, 27, of Loveless Avenue, appeared via video before Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Anthony Donofrio on Monday.

A police report states a man at the Community Corrections Association facility on Market Street had severe bruising on his face. Video shows Mechling outside the victim’s room, and he was seen leaving it a few minutes later. The victim told medical staff at a hospital he didn’t know what happened except he was struck by a solid object, the report states.
