Man arrested in bank robbery
YOUNGSTOWN — Police on Thursday afternoon arrested a man in connection with the Monday afternoon robbery of First National Bank, according to a press release from Youngstown police.
Phil Whitman Jr., 45, was charged with aggravated robbery after Youngstown police stopped him around 4 p.m. while driving a 2006 silver Cadillac suspected of being used in the robbery of the 1 W. Federal Street bank.
Whitman also is charged with theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation, according to Mahoning County jail records.
Whitman is expected to be arraigned Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court.
