WHAT: Regular trustees meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Eric Ungaro, Joanne Wollet and Edward Kempers

Trustees:

• Heard from Mahoning County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti regarding his support of the county ballot issue that would enact a 0.25 percent, five-year sales and use tax for the repair and maintenance of roads and other infrastructure;

• Heard from Gina DeGenova, chief assistant prosecuting attorney at the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office, regarding updates made to the office’s website and social media, and encouraged residents to utilize the recently introduced Mahoning County special needs registry;

• Heard from village resident Mike Zembower, director of Rosalie’s Forever Footprints, about the nonprofit putting on “The Poland Express,” a village and township event featuring Santa Claus touring the streets on the days leading up to the annual tree lighting ceremony;

• Approved the creation of a lighting district on Navajo Place based on feedback from residents during a public hearing. Seven street lights will be installed by Ohio Edison once the contract is signed;

• Approved payment for flu shots to the Mahoning County Board of Health for township employees;

• Set trick-or-treat hours 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31;

• Approved the OVI task force agreement for the police department;

• Approved the purchase of a new police cruiser from Fairway Ford in an amount not to exceed $35,000.
