Boardman to see boost in internet connection

BOARDMAN — Residents plagued with intermittent internet service over the course of the last year should begin seeing improvements.

During the Boardman Township trustees meeting Monday, township Administrator Jason Loree said Armstrong Cable has been working in zones to “overcome most of the hurdles” many of its consumers have experienced, including slow speed or internet outages.

Armstrong customers — forced to stay home — likely saw slower connections as the pandemic heightened, Loree said. As a result, more people utilizing the company’s services strained the fiber optic network.

Should Armstrong customers continue to experience issues with their service, they are encouraged to contact the company by calling 1-877-486-4666.

Loree also discussed communications across the township.

The ABC Water and Stormwater District is preparing to send its annual flyer to residents.

The intent is to update residents on projects on an annual basis, Loree said.

“As rain is coming down, we want people to know what we’ve been doing,” Loree said.

A “township report” also is scheduled to go out in the near future to township residents. Each department will include updates, Loree said, as well as safety reports from the fire and police departments.

Also discussed:

l Crews began milling roadways throughout the township Monday, said Road Superintendent Marilyn Kenner, with paving set to begin Wednesday. Crack sealing also began Monday and should be completed Wednesday afternoon. Storm sewers also will be checked to ensure they are free-flowing.

l Trustees also discussed the next meeting set for May 24, which will be the first in-person meeting in about a year. Brad Calhoun, trustees chairman, said the first meeting of each month will be remote, while the second will be both in-person and remote. There will be limited seating, and COVID-19 guidelines will be followed.
