ODOT announces 2021 culvert maintenance project

The Ohio Department of Transportation proposes culvert maintenance / replacement on eight culverts throughout Trumbull County.

The projects planned include:

• U.S. Route 422 between Trumbull Avenue and Interstate 80 in Girard. A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction shall be maintained at all times during project construction.

• State Route 82 between Newton Falls Braceville Road and Bailey Anderson Road in Braceville. Route 82 at this location will be closed / detoured for a period not to exceed 14 consecutive calendar days. The official detour route for this closure will utilize state Routes 534 and 5. This closure will not occur simultaneously with the other state Route 82 closures in Vienna and Brookfield.

• State Route 82 / state Route 193 interchange (east side) in Vienna. The state Route 193 on-ramp to eastbound Route 82 will be closed / detoured for a period not to exceed 28 consecutive calendar days. The official detour route for this closure will utilize westbound state Route 82 and southbound state Route 11.

At the same time, the Route 82 westbound exit ramp to Route 193 also will be closed / detoured for a period not to exceed 28 consecutive calendar days. The official detour route for this closure will utilize westbound Route 82, southbound Route 11 and eastbound Route 82.

• State Route 82 westbound between Bedford and Addison roads in Brookfield. Route 82 westbound will be closed / detoured for a period not to exceed 21 consecutive calendar days. The official detour route for this closure will utilize U.S. Route 62, Chestnut Ridge Road, and state Route 7. This closure will not occur simultaneously with the other Route 82 closures in Braceville and Vienna.

• State Route 305 between U.S. Route 422 and state Route 534 in Southington. Route 305 at this location will be closed / detoured for a period not to exceed 14 consecutive calendar days. The official detour route for this closure will utilize U.S. Route 422 and Route 534.

• State Route 534 between Gates East Road and state Route 87 in Mesopotamia. Route 534 at this location will be closed/detoured for a period not to exceed 14 consecutive calendar days. The official detour route for this closure will utilize state Routes 88, 45 and 87.

All construction, lane restriction, road closure and detour information will be posted along the aforementioned routes and on the ODOT District 4 webpage. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties, businesses and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.

The approximately $1.25 million project is scheduled to begin construction in spring 2021.

To ensure the decision-making process is comprehensive, ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archaeological, architectural and ecological resources, regulated materials and the general location of the project.

ODOT also requests information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, landmarks and districts. Any comments you may have regarding the environmental impacts and / or the proposed project may be submitted by Dec. 11.
