Youngstown man charged with 13 counts

WARREN — A Youngstown man who last year was acquitted of a murder charge in Mahoning County was arraigned Thursday on a host of charges involving a June incident in Liberty Township.

Albert D. Byrd IV, 26, of 1102 Wilshire Drive, Youngstown, pleaded not guilty to a 13-count felony indictment, including eight counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated burglary, burglary, domestic violence and kidnapping.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice ordered Byrd’s $500,000 bond be revoked, and that he be held in the county jail without bond. Rice called Byrd a “threat to society.”

Another hearing is set for Oct. 1 in Rice’s court. Trumbull County jail records show Byrd has been in custody since Aug. 5.

According to Trumbull County assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman, the charges are connected to a June 23 break-in this year at a Liberty home, where a woman was brought out of the home at gunpoint. The assailant then pointed the gun at seven other people including three children, Wildman said.

Last September, court records show Byrd was found not guilty by a jury in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on charges connected to the Aug. 1, 2018, slaying of Jermaine Donlow Jr. Donlow was stabbed during a confrontation at a Tyrell Avenue, Youngstown, apartment.
