YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown police identified the man shot in the right leg Monday morning as Michael Lett Jr., according to a report.

Police responded to East Florida Avenue after gunfire was reported in the area. Lett was found lying in the road in the 200 block of Philadelphia Avenue as a neighbor tried to help him. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

He told police someone in a red Dodge began shooting at him with a big rifle when he came outside. He was with his mother and she ran toward the back of the house, the report states. She was also taken to the hospital, and was in stable condition, but the report does not list an injury.
