Veterans Day events today
• 9 a.m. — Jackson-Milton High School with speaker Col. Sharon M. Johnson, commander of the 910th Maintenance Group, Youngstown Air Reserve Station.
• 9 a.m. — Austintown Fitch High School with speaker Sgt. 1st Class Kimberly McGinnis. She is U.S. Army (active duty) Iraq.
• 9:15 a.m. — Girard Multi-Generational Center, Trumbull Avenue, Girard
• 10 a.m. — Glenwood Junior High gymnasium with speakers State Rep. Don Manning, R-New Middletown, and U.S. Air Force Reservist Maj. Vito Abruzzino
• 10 a.m. — Mahoning County Courthouse, Youngstown
• 10 a.m. — Champion High School with guest speaker Cari Delgado, a U.S. Navy veteran and deputy director of the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission. George Barcikoski, a Champion resident and Navy veteran, will be honored,
• 11 a.m. — Trumbull County Veterans Day Federation ceremony, First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. NW, followed at 12:15 p.m. by the Trumbull County Veterans Day parade at Perkins Park. The parade will travel south on Mahoning Avenue, past a review stand set up near the Trumbull County Veterans’ Memorial and then east on Market Street through the downtown area, passing the Samuel E. Lanza Veterans Resource Center.
• 11 a.m. — Niles City Cemetery hosted by Niles American Legion Post 106
• 2 p.m. — Heritage Manor Rehabilitation / Retirement Community, 517 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown who are residents of Heritage Manor.
