LIBERTY — A Liberty Township man convicted on federal drug charges will be imprisoned for about nine years in West Virginia.

Robert L. Taylor, 58, was the main supplier among eight people indicted for selling cocaine in Youngstown and western Pennsylvania, federal prosecutors say.

At the Trumbull County court level, Taylor, of 1302 Virginia Trail, was sentenced Thursday to a three-year sentence for possessing a gun as a felon. He appeared with his attorney Gerald J. Ingram before Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice.

But Rice ordered the local sentence to be served concurrently with a 109-month sentence handed down earlier this month by a federal court.

According to records of the U.S. Court Ohio Northern District, Taylor will be serving his prison term at a Morgantown, W.Va., federal facility.

Taylor pleaded guilty July 23 to a charge of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. He was sentenced Nov. 5 in federal court.

Federal authorities seized two 9 mm pistols (one semiautomatic), a .12-gauge shotgun, a .410-caliber pistol and a 5.56 mm semiautomatic rifle from Taylor’s home, court records show. Also seized was $149,465 in currency from Taylor.

The cash and guns were found during searches by federal authorities on May 23. The county gun charge against Taylor stemmed from a Aug. 15 incident in Liberty, court records state.
