State nurses association honors county lawmaker

CINCINNATI — State Rep. Don Manning, R-New Middletown, was honored by the Ohio Nurses Association as its legislator of the year.

The association presented the award Saturday to Manning as its annual convention in Cincinnati.

“I am honored to receive the Ohio Nurses Association legislator of the year award,” Manning said. “Nursing is one of the most challenging but rewarding occupations, and I am blessed to be in a position where I can be a champion for their needs.”

Manning is sponsoring legislation to prohibit hospitals from requiring registered nurses or licensed practical nurses to work overtime as a condition of employment.

The association advocated for the more than 180,000 registered nurses in Ohio and serves as the state branch of the American Nurses Association.
