YOUNGSTOWN — A mattress and box springs caught fire Monday at a home in the 100 block of West Chalmers Avenue on the South Side, according to a city fire department report.

Fire crews contained the fire to the second-floor bedroom.

One person was home during the 2 p.m. fire call and escaped unharmed, the report states.

One firefighter sustained a back injury during the incident but was not treated, the report states.

Damage was estimated at $1,500 to property and $500 to the contents.
