Fall fest, bonfire, costumed race, more set in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — The Farmers Market is offering a lot of first-time events Friday at Austintown Township Park, all capped off with a bonfire.

“Our fall fest, bonfire, trunk or treat, costumed 5K and rummage sale is almost here,” said Shannon Lehn, marketing manager.

The costumed 5K as of early last week had 25 runners registered. More and runners can sign up the day of the race, but they may not get a T-shirt that day. The race does have a few rules on costumes.

“Participants must be able to see, breathe and not cause a tripping hazard for themselves or others,” Lehn said.

As for awards, medals will be given to the top three males and females in age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.

The other first is a rummage sale planned for inside the Stacey Pavillion. The sale will be handled by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

The event will also include a trunk or treat that will consist of local businesses giving out treats to costumed children. Lehn said vendors will also be at the event.
