Thur. 11:25 a.m.: Judge sentences woman who assaulted student to 22 more days in jail

YOUNGSTOWN — Patricia A. Bennett, who has spent 38 days in the Mahoning County jail following her conviction for assaulting a developmentally disabled student on the bus where she worked for the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities, will spend another 22 days in jail.

Bennett, 59, of Warren, received her sentence today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. It includes five years of probation and no prison time.

Bennett was convicted at trial last month of felony assault and other offenses for punching the student on a bus parked at the Leonard Kirtz School in Austintown Jan. 6, 2020. Bennett also can no longer be employed working with people with developmental disabilities, Judge Maureen Sweeney said.
