Sun. 9:35 p.m.: Authorities disperse crowd downtown
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown police, about a dozen troopers from the Ohio State Highway patrol, Other officers, and officers in Mahoning County’s armored, SWAT vehicle have dispersed a crowd of protesters from downtown.
The biggest collection of police vehicles was on Commerce Street behind the Ohio Job and Family Services office, where about a dozen Ohio State Highway Patrol vehicles filled the street.
Scores of mostly young people were ordered to leave that area and went in different directions toward their vehicles about 9 p.m. About the same time, Youngstown police chased a man down Federal Street and took someone into custody near Market Street.
This action came about a half hour after Mayor Jamael Tito Brown declared an immediate citywide curfew banning all vehicle traffic and pedestrians from city streets until 8:30 a.m. Monday.
