• The total solar eclipse is Monday and parts of the local area are in the path of totality. Ohio has not seen a total eclipse since 1806 and will not see another one until 2099. The partial solar eclipse begins at about 2 p.m. The period of totality starts at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the local area and ends around 3:18 p.m. The partial eclipse will continue after totality for some time.

Events scheduled for viewing include:

BAZETTA — Mosquito Lake Park, 2 to 3:30 p.m., for a watch party on the beach. There will be free viewing glasses available, while supplies last. The viewing party will be at the beach pavilion (weather permitting). Bring a chair or a blanket.

BRACEVILLE — Viewing celebration at Braceville Park, 800 Braceville Robinson Road SW, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair. Free food and glasses. A movie describing the eclipse will be shown at 1 p.m.

BRISTOL — Township center, state Routes 45 and 88, starting at 2 p.m., with hot dogs and refreshments.

CORTLAND — “Cortland Celestial Celebration,” community wide event, noon to 4 p.m. on Main Street. The city has secured 3,000 pairs of solar eclipse glasses.

HOWLAND — Party at The Grand Resort, 9520 E. Market St. Eclipse glasses will be available and there will be designated viewing areas.

KINSMAN — Kinsman Free Public Library, 6420 Church St. The library will be distributing protective viewing glasses while supplies last. There will be live music and activities starting at 2 p.m. leading up to the blackout shortly after 3 p.m. The library will be closed from 2 to 4 p.m. during the program.

LEAVITTSBURG — Skyway Drive-in, 1825 N Leavitt Road NW, will have a special feature event, welcoming people to watch the solar eclipse on screen. Viewers will need to bring their own eclipse glasses. Laser tag and concessions will be offered. The theater will open to guests at 1 p.m.

LORDSTOWN — Foxconn Ev Systems, 2300 Hallock Young Road SW, and Youngstown State University Physics and Astronomy Department will be hosting a viewing event for the public at Foxconn’s parking lot. Enter at the front entrance off Hallock Young Road SW. Gates will open at 1 p.m. A limited supply of eclipse glasses will be available. Bring your own seating and refreshments. YSU will have telescopes available as well.

NEWTON FALLS — Viewing area downtown along Broad Street between Center and North Canal streets. The road will be closed from noon to 6 p.m. Downtown businesses will be open for activities.

NILES — The Eclipse at Eastwood event is from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Mudslingers parking lot near Hobby Lobby, 825 Great East Plaza. There will be a bounce house, face painting and eclipse glasses.

WARREN — The Warren Trumbull County Public Library will have activities from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Mollenkopf Stadium, with activity and craft stations, eclipse talk and space trivia at 2 p.m., “Life in 1806 During the Last Eclipse” program with Dr. Amy Fluker, associate professor of humanities and social sciences at Youngstown State University.

YOUNGSTOWN — Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, eclipse activities for children in grades kindergarten to fifth from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
