LAYING OF THE ROSES: The Laying of the Roses Ceremony will take place 1 p.m. today at the Vietnam Memorial in downtown Youngstown. The annual laying of the roses ceremony is to commemorate, honor and remember 100 Mahoning County service members who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. Also recognized will be prisoners of war, along with those missing in action and serving in other wars.

The event is being coordinated by the American Legion Post 472 on Indianola Avenue, Youngstown, sponsored by Post 472, VVA Chapter 135, AMVETS Post 44 and IAWP Youngstown Chapter.

THANKSGIVING GIVEAWAY: The Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard is accepting donations for its annual Thanksgiving giveaway that will be gift cards this year because of the pandemic. Families who are registered at the center and wish to receive assistance need to call 330-545-4301. Anyone wishing to donate to the center is asked to make a donation with a giftcard to Walmart or Target. Donations are needed at the center by Friday.

HOLIDAY BASKETS AT EASTERSEALS: Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties and Midas in Austintown and Boardman are partnering to collect for holiday baskets. Midas is offering a free maintenance package or $20 off a package upgrade to those who donate eight nonperishable items through Nov. 29. Donations may be dropped off at either Midas or at Easterseals.
