SECOND HARVEST PLANS DISTRIBUTIONS: The Second Harvest Food Bank distribution scheduled in June for Mahoning and Columbiana counties will be:

• Traveling Food Pantry, 11 a.m. today, Wellsville High School;

• Traveling Food Pantry, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Struthers High School;

• Mobile Pantry, 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Fellowship of the Beloved, Hanoverton;

• Mobile Pantry, 9:30 a.m. Friday, Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, Beloit;

• Mobile Pantry, 9 a.m. June 13, old Liberty High School;

• Traveling Food Pantry, 11 a.m. June 24, Struthers High School.

Dates and locations are subject to change. Additional distributions may be added. Contact Second Harvest Food Bank at 330-792-5522 to confirm locations and times.

CENTER TO HOST VIRTUAL LECTURE: Chaya Kessler, director of Jewish Studies at Kent State, will give a virtual lecture about her first language, Yiddish, at 6 p.m. June 11. Participants will learn a bit of history, a few idioms and maybe a juicy curse as she shares stories and jokes.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS: The Youngstown Area Jewish Foundation is accepting applications for the Mildred Engle Nurse Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance to individuals needing funds to secure an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.

The scholarship award may cover tuition and transportation costs up to $10,000 per year. Recipients must commit to work at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation Retirement community following graduation from nursing school for a period of one year for a scholarship award of less than $8,000 or commit to two years for scholarships of $8,000 or more. Interested individuals must be accepted into an accredited RN nursing program.

Recipients must reside within 75-mile radius of the Youngstown area. Applications available at yajfounda tion.org.
