Akron Children’s Hospital expands Austintown site

AUSTINTOWN — Akron Children’s Hospital has quadrupled the number of exam rooms at its Austintown location to serve the growing need for pediatric care in the area.

An addition to the building that expanded the space to three times its previous size is complete. The site at 5480 Norquest Blvd. also features a larger waiting area and larger parking lot.

The now 10,267-square-foot office has 24 exam rooms from the original six. Also, there is greater accessibility for wheelchair users and the addition of a wheelchair-accessible scale, a guidance room used for counseling / behavioral health visits and four assessment areas for recording height, weight, blood pressure and temperatures. The existing 3,000 square feet also was renovated.

“We opened our Austintown location in 2016, and since then the number of families choosing it has steadily increased,” said Mike Mainwaring, vice president of Community Care for Akron Children’s. “This newly expanded and renovated space allows us to continue our commitment to provide essential pediatric care to children in Austintown and throughout the Mahoning Valley.”

The office’s providers are Drs. Erin Donley, Catherine Henson and Jessica Tattershall and pediatric nurse practitioner Melanie Klockner.
