McDowell tops Brown in Youngstown mayoral race
YOUNGSTOWN — Political newcomer Derrick McDowell has defeated two-term incumbent Jamael Tito Brown in the Youngstown mayoral race.
McDowell, running as an independent, beat Brown 4,570 to 3,669 (55.32% to 44.41%) with all precincts reporting Tuesday night.
Brown, a Democrat, was seeking to become just the second Youngstown mayor to serve three terms. Patrick Ungaro was the first.
