Centennial doc screenings start at Playhouse

Youngstown Playhouse will host Sunday the first of several events to screen portions of the documentary made celebrating its centennial season.

“The Youngstown Playhouse — A Centennial of Live Theater” is a 10-part documentary co-produced by J.E. Ballantyne Jr. and Michael Rossi and directed by Ballantyne. With original music by Rick Blackson, it chronicles the theater’s history and features interviews with many of the people involved with the community theater over the years, including some who have died since the interviews were conducted.

Sunday’s screening at 1:30 p.m. will feature the first two parts of the documentary and recorded interviews with David Jendre and Lynn Nelson Rafferty.

The rest of the schedule is:

•   Dec. 1 — Parts 3 and 4 and recorded interviews with Donna Smith Downie and David Vosburgh.

•   Jan. 26 — Parts 5 and 6 and recorded interviews with Terry Shears and Kayla Boye.

•  Feb. 2 — Recorded interviews with Todd Hancock, Pat Petaccio, Glenn Stevens and Maureen Collins.

•  March 9 — Parts 7 and 8 and recorded interviews with Molly Galano and John Cox.

•   April 6 — Parts 9 and 10 and recorded interviews with Candace DiLullo and Joe Scarvell.

All screenings are at the Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown. Admission is $5 at the door. For more information, go to centennialproject.org.
