Wait ends for Waite’s return

WARREN — John Waite is coming to the Robins Theatre on Nov. 17.

Waite had hits as the lead singer of The Babys (“Every Time I Think of You,” “Isn’t It Time”) and Bad English (“When I See You Smile”) as well as a No. 1 hit as a solo artist with “Missing You.”

He also is the subject of the 2022 documentary “John Waite: The Hard Way.”

Waite played Stambaugh Auditorium in 2014 and one of his final concerts with The Babys at the Youngstown Agora on Dec. 8, 1980 (the night John Lennon was murdered). Waite suffered a knee injury the following night in Cincinnati, and the tour was scrapped after Waite tried to perform a show on crutches in Akron.

The rest of the tour was postponed, but keyboard player Jonathan Cain left the band for Journey and Waite decided to start his solo career during the layoff.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show range from $30 to $50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Robins box office and online at robinstheatre.com.

Starting at $3.23/week.
