Warren exhibit features rubbish turned into art
Submitted photo “Scales of Refuse” by Apryle Elizabeth is one of the works featured in the Rubbish on Park exhibition at Art on Park.
Art made with nontraditional items will be featured in the next exhibition at downtown Warren’s Art on Park.
For Rubbish on Park, artists were instructed not to submit traditional paint-on-canvas works. Curator Ashley Kellar’s suggestions in the call for artists announcement included such projects as painting on a canvas with food items, sculptures made of trash, paintings on humans and collages.
Artists entering the nonjuried show were encouraged to think out of the box and come up with something fun, perhaps something they wouldn’t do normally.
Participating artists include: Apryle Elizabeth, Rachael Baldwin, Victoria Brayer, Claire Calderone, Gianna Carillo, Beth Carson, Renee Exley, Daniel Hardy, Carmen Jade Hazel, Jersee Hogue, AJ Howard, Kathryn Infante, Ashley Kellar, Inika Kellar, Pixie Kellar, Jessica Mackey, Aimee Mallory, Jessica Robinson McNees, Trisha Mullen, Luke Olson, James Shuttic, Julia Shuttic, Teddrick Smith, Marley Waters, David Wheeler, Lindsey Werger and Alaina Woofter.
The opening reception runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Art on Park, 180 N. Park Ave., Warren, and also will include an open mic. Admission is free.
