Author to share strange sports stories
Author Vince Guerrieri will talk about his latest book, “Weird Moments in Cleveland Sports: Bottlegate, Bedbugs, and Burying the Pennant,” for the next Bites and Bits of History program.
The book chronicles strange tales from sport history, including a pitcher struck by lightning on the mound, a win that was aided by a swarm of insect and the Cleveland Indians’ infamous 10-Cent Beer Night and the mayhem it caused.
Guerrieri, a Youngstown native and Bowling Green State University graduate, is an award-winning journalist for the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram and Medina Gazette. “Weird Moments” is his third sports history book.
The program starts at noon Jan. 19 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown, and is sponsored by the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.
