Holiday Containers Make and Take — Canfield

When: 3 and 6 p.m. Nov. 30

What: Turn your outdoor containers into holiday masterpieces. Classes will cover form and style, along with finding and using several kinds of greenery, branches and natural cuttings from the landscape. Master Gardener Volunteer Training – Open House

When: 2 p.m. Dec. 2

What: A social time to talk about the program and enjoy refreshments with current volunteers, who will share details about upcoming training that begins Feb. 1. The OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities. Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must.

Cost: Free

When: 6 p.m. Dec. 2

What: Learn about becoming an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist. This certificate program provides intensive, nature focused training. Applicants to the program should be willing to share their passion for the natural world and to promote environmental stewardship while giving back through community service. OCVN provide educational services to their communities by volunteering at local parks and nature centers.

Naturalist Series: Bats — What you Didn’t Learn Watching Batman

When: 7 p.m. Tuesday

What: OSU Extension Wildlife Specialist Marne Titchenell will share information on Ohio’s bats from species, habitat and life cycles (where do they spend their time and when), population threats (habitat loss and white-nose syndrome), and how to help bats through such things as building bat houses, woodland management and more.

Holiday decorating with garden greens

When: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday

What: Join Master Gardeners in the Learning and Teaching Garden to learn about various gardening topics throughout the fall. Programs are held outside. Take a chair and mask, and dress accordingly.
