Youngstown can help heal today’s society DEAR EDITOR: Fifty years ago, on the bicentennial of the U.S., in 1976, the late Howard Aley published a book, “A Heritage to Share” giving a complete history of the Youngstown area from prehistoric times until July 4, 1976. He grew up on the South Side, graduated from South High School and YSU, was the editor of the Jambar and Trinity Chimes and was a teacher at Wilson High School for years. He referenced much of his book from Joseph Butler, the founder of the Butler Art museum. Joseph Butler was also a historian of Youngstown, writing ...

I apologize for not realizing that a President shows how much he cares for the average citizen by how much their retirement account earns. It’s not if people can’t afford housing, food, medication or gasoline. It’s not that the president has enriched himself by over $2 billion while in office. It’s not that the president pardoned 1,500 thugs who attacked our Capitol. I’m sure the millions of people who have NO retirement accounts are very happy that you earned $63,000 in yours. Congrats to you! — Youngstown Last year DJT made $2.2 billion off of being the president. About ...

Some sobering and sad thoughts to consider DEAR EDITOR: I find it incredibly sad to know that: Not only is racism rampant in our country and accepted by so many, but that it is led first and foremost by our president. That this administration is working to erase black history and replace it with lies. Almost 7,000 immigrant children are in detention centers right now. The number of children killed in these latest wars numbers in the thousands. Immigrants are being rounded up, thrown to the ground and beaten by thugs who would never let that happen to their own family ...

Congratulations to “Boardman” for chastising “Canfield” for his disgraceful rhetoric concerning our president. I am one of many who find “Canfield” disgusting and I wonder why he deserves so much weekly space in The Vindicator. Only in America! — Struthers The thing that bothers me the most about the radical left is how they refuse to believe Trump is our one true God. He knows more than all of the experts combined. He ran many businesses and he is very, very rich. And why do we need allies if He can stop all wars in 1 day? We don’t need to worry about the Supreme Court ...

Remember the origin of Schwebel Bread DEAR EDITOR: With the announcement of Schwebel’s closing, I realized I am probably the only living person in the world who can provide details preceding its birth in 1906. It was probably in the summer of 1905 that Dora Schwebel, a 17-year-old newlywed, had the idea to bake bread for her neighborhood on Haseltine Avenue in East Youngstown, later called Campbell. She realized her stove was too small to meet her needs. She then decided to take a horse-drawn streetcar downtown to East Federal Street in Youngstown. There was a store at 27 E. ...

Instead of whining about Trump maybe you folks should focus on what the Dems stand for: Fraud, Drag Queen story hour for Children, Anti Police, Men in Women`s sports, Dudes in Dresses, not proud to be American, hate the American Flag, prefer Illegals over working class Americans, less Religious, and now they are voting for Nazis. — Canfield I’ve been reading some posts on Google about Vice President Vance having some mental health issues and therapy not helping. The Bible tells of suicide . And another VP being chosen and giving the State of the Union address in January. I don’t ...
