Cleveland wins home opener against Bengals

CLEVELAND — It was the running backs that had a big show for the Browns, scoring four of the team’s five touchdowns in a 35-30 win over Cincinatti Thursday night.

The game opened with a 38-yard field goal by Bengals kicker Randy Bullock but the Browns responded with the first touchdown of the game on an 11-yard rush from Nick Chubb.

In the second quarter wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caught a 43-yard pass fro m Baker Mayfield to give the Browns a 14-3 lead.

After a 23-yard touchdown from Joe Burrow to C.J. Uzomah, the Browns responded once again with Kareem Hunt catching a 6-yard pass for a score.

To close out the first half, Bullock kicked his second field goal of the game, this time from 43-yards, to cut the lead to 21-13 with six seconds remaining.

Chubb got on the board once again, this time with a 1-yard rush to make the score 28-13.

Late in the game Tyler Boyd caught a 9-yard pass from Burrow to cut the Cleveland lead to 35-30 after the extra point with 48 seconds remaining in the game.

The Browns recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock to get their first win of the season.

New acquisition Cody Parkey was a perfect 5-of-5 on extra points.
